Stevenson Cup Final
We played Maidstone Juniors in the Stevenson Cup Final and lost 4-2.
Mohammad Ali unsoundly sacrificed in a line that his opponent had analysed before the game after seeing Mohammad’s games on-line. Boye Sodeke also lost. However, James Wagstaff played a good game and pulled back a point and Tony Packham reached a good knight versus bad bishop ending with an outside passed pawn and duly converted. However, Ian McAllan was completely out of sorts playing a bad move in an opening position where he had been playing the correct move for forty years and lost limply. Greg Edwards won a pawn, but the position was so blocked that neither side could do anything positive. Greg gave the pawn back to try to open the position and then blundered a piece.
