Sidcup entered a team in the Kent Summer Quickplay Tournament. This is a four-player-a-side team handicap tournament where the weaker player gets more time to think than the stronger player. We first played Gravesend winning 12.5 - 3.5 with Greg Edwards and Mohammad Ali scoring 3/4, Boye Sodeke scoring 2.5/4 and James Wagstaff top-scoring with a perfect 4/4. In our next match against Dartford we won by 10.5 - 5.5. Despite a tiring workload Greg Edwards was the star scoring 4/4 from some dubious positions. Boye Sodeke scored 2.5/4 and Tony Packham and James Wagstaff scored 2/4. We then played Lewisham and lost 7.5 - 8.5 Finally we played Beckenham and led all through the match until the final couple of minutes when we ended up losing 7.5 - 8.5. Mohammed Ali scored 3/4 and Greg Edwards, Boye Sodeke and James Wagstaff all scored 1.5/4.

Although we finished in a mid-table position, had just two games gone the other way we would have been top.
